Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze the strategies, constraints and responses of student on the classroom design at MIN 7 Aceh Besar. This study used a type of qualitative research type by observing the activities of designing classrooms, interviewing the principal, 3 teachers and 3 students, and examining the teacher’s documentation of designing the class. The data were analyzed thematically. The results showed that the classroom teacher’s strategy in designing the study room was, firs by sticking class display on the wall, namely lesson rosters, class room picket list, and student materials. Seating arrangements are applied to the conference model, traditional model, letter U, group kodel and classroom furniture arrangement. Obstacles faced by the classroom teachers in designing study spaces are the lack of school finances, the lack of classroom teacher skills in designing study spaces and the presence of students who do not follow the rules in designing study spaces. The students responses to the result of the classroom design have positive and negative responses. The design of a condusive classroom is very influential for students, therefore the role of the classroom teacher is needed in designing a classroom
